The secret Origins of Mr. NumberNine

From the unfiltered depths of the internets, comes the <ahem> unique voice of Mr Number 9 who is both a co-creator and host of the 9642 podcast. A man who loves “alternative opinions” and always loves to mix in his special brand of romance into the sporting (and other) narratives of the day. 

In the era before social media and internet virality (known by some historians as the 90s), the world largely and rightly ignored this man, as much as they could. One day as fate would have it, he would go on to meet an equally ‘unique’ man, whose name he didn’t care to learn. This man is the one you may know as “The Fool”.  

Both these men, deciding names were passé, embraced their online identities, and combined their ‘powers’ to go around harassing and bothering people with their opinions on various topics that were germane to the events of the day. Realising that people they regularly interacted with had developed the ability to ignore them while feigning interest, they decided that their unique combined voice needed the appropriate platform. 

Hence 9642 was born. Our two protagonists would go on to have an eventful journey as podcasters over the mid to late 2010s. But that is another story.

Or how The Fool learned to love the podcast

The life and times on the entity known as The Fool is the stuff of legends, but also much to be long and convoluted to be told now, or in fact at any time. Needless to say anyone who has had the pleasure of meeting him have all said the same thing within five minutes of meeting him, “you did what? You fool!”

The fool has been hanging around internet chat channels since the late 90’s, was blogging before it was cool and then fell in with a bad influence called Mr.NumberNine. Now, both NumberNine and The Fool were known slackers, with exquisite talent in procrastination, but found that with their powers combined they managed to actually start projects, albeit most are still work in progress over 20 years later. To help foster these projects the pair forged a shared space, the NineSixFourTwo productions.

One of the shared projects that have started and continued to be produced is the great football podcast listen to around the world, the NineSixFourTwo Football Podcast, with occasional releases of a Cricket version. The podcast is loved by those that listen to it, and enjoy the pair’s unique viewpoint on the fames and fortunes of their favourite teams.
