It is about time that we had a bit of a write up of our fantasy draft league. We are now six games in and the league is starting to heat up. This is the first year of the draft format for fantasy football, and so far as proven to be successful, with 11 players (vs 10 in the standard league) and six new players (vs 3 new players in the standard league). The draft occurred on 5th August and was well attended by seven out of the eleven managers, with five in the discord chat. I will also write a post on each teams players at a later date to discuss further each teams initial squads, and what changes have been made, however, the first picks for each team is listed here (in the approximate order of picking):

The teams that were returning from last years normal league are first placed Bluetastic, second placed Old Warsoninas, third placed Dewtastic, as well as Number Nine’s Massey Marauders and my Teh Chelski Fools. There are only two new teams who are also playing in the standard league, and that is Guns N’ Moses ( Giroudsandstorm in the standard league) and
I Don’t Like Football
. The others, [Team Name for Sale], Xenon, Twxt and Toe_Hack United are all just competing in the draft league (along with returning player Bluetastic). However, unlike in the standard league, the new players have been playing well all season so far, and have been mixing it up with the veteran players; even if those veterans are proven champions or the likes of Number Nine and myself.
As can be seen from the table there is starting to open up a bit of a spread in the points. My Teh Chelski Fools sit on top of the table with 15 points, even with Mr Average, but three points ahead of the next human managed teams of Dewtastic and Toe_Hack United, our highest ranked newbie, both on 12 points but Dewtastic with the better point differential. However, just behind Toe_Hack United are Twxt on 10 points, then Guns’N Moses on 9 points with Bluetastic. Next is Old Warsonians on 7 points, then Massey Marauders and [Team Name for Sale] on 6 points, I Don’t Like Football on 4 points, and finally Xenon on 1 point.
In the draft league there have been 2 drawn matches: Xenon & Twxt 30 -30 in week 1 & I Don’t Like Football & Old Warsonians 32-32 in week 2. There have also only been 2 games with 60+ scores (both involving Old Warsonians), the first was Guns N’ Moses beating Old Warsonians 62-38 in week 1, before Old Warsonians beat Xenon 61-32 in this last week (GW 6). In general it has been a lowish scoring league, with an average of 37.08 points scored by each team each week, and only four teams having an average over 40 points; Teh Chelski Fools (41.33). Dewtastic (41.50), Guns N’Moses (43.83) & Old Warsonians (40.50).
Once everyone has gotten used to this format I am sure we will see more teams move into 40+ point averages.
