The Fool: Welcome everyone, I thought I would do a little series where I interviewed the top 4 of our recently completed NineSixFourTwo Fantasy Football League. First up we are privileged to have the winner of the cup, Mr Dewtastic! Welcome to the NIneSixFourTwo studio.
Dewtastic: Hey mate, no worries
The Fool: Ok Mr Dewtastic, to start, why don’t you tell us a bit about yourself?
Dewtastic: A little about myself.. where to start… I am 26, live in Hamilton (the city of the future) and work for Inland Revenue as a team leader with one of our student loan teams. I am a bit of a sport enthusiast, especially boxing, MMA and football. Oh my wife and I recently brought our 1st home which is cool (not sure if you Aucklanders know what that is anymore though)
The Fool: First homes are so 2009 to us Aucklanders, we have moved on to the next hipster trend of mobile living! Ok next question, exactly how long are your walks on the beach?
Dewtastic: Did i not just say I live in Hamilton… the closest thing to a beach is the Waikato River and I wouldn’t walk anywhere near that water.
The Fool: I have to say I am a little disappointed you don’t get out of Hamiltron a bit more. On to this years league, has wining the 2nd Annual 9642 Fantasy League changed you?
Dewtastic: I would like to think that it hasn’t changed me… I am still as humble as ever. But in saying that I have every intention of going on to create a dynasty as a 9642 Fantasy League Manager.
The Fool: Nice to see you as humble as ever. To ensure you have some competition next year, can you share some of your winning strategy with us simple plebs?
Dewtastic: Hmm… a magician never reveals his secrets but if i was to share some advice it would be that sometimes you have to take risks to get to the top and keep your eyes out for consistent performers in the lower table teams.
The Fool: Solid advice, though to be fair the only thing that will make my performance improve will be to actually log in occasionally. Anyway, what do you like to do with your time outside of 9642 Fantasy Football?
Dewtastic: Outside of Fantasy League Management I keep busy with martial arts training and teaching, I am a black belt in Kyokushin Karate so that is fun. I also enjoy watching UFC and playing card games (I am pretty good at 500)
The Fool: I don’t know, claiming to be good at 500 after completing a university degree is like claiming to be good at swimming when you were born a dolphin. Anyway we may need to have a 500-off at some point! Moving on, I understand you were recently married, Do you want to take this opportunity to gush out some lovely sentimental comments about your lovely wife?
Dewtastic: Yes we were married in February and she is amazing… she even let me update my fantasy squad while we were on honeymoon haha so I really don’t think I could have picked a better woman.
The Fool: She is a very special lady, I mean I hear even drunk cousins playing the clown at the wedding didn’t bring her down! Also you are a gunners fan, so how much do you hate yourself on a scale of one to Wenger is a god?
Dewtastic: Haha that is rich coming from a Chelsea fan… remind me again how many league titles you have won? how many FA cups you have won? where did you finish this season? About the only thing you have over Arsenal is that you have had more managers than we have as your Russian owner has no patience or commitment to a cause.
umm.. what was the question again… oh yes Wenger is a god..
The Fool: I’m sorry, when was the last time you won anything meaningful? and no FA cups don’t really count. So are Arsenal going to win anything next year?
Dewtastic: A top 4 finish is like winning for us haha. But seriously yes I think we have a core squad that is capable of making a title run and if we can add a quality striker then I think we will have a great chance.
Also we finished 2nd this year so our Champions league draw should be kinder and we wont run into Barca or Bayern in the round of 16 like we have every other year.
The Fool: Fair enough, now on a bit more of a lighter side I have a fan question from Liam of Hobsonville Point. He asks If you could be any superhero, who would you be?
Dewtastic: Hmm pretty tough decision… I am definitely team Iron Man when it comes to Marvel’s Avengers but in terms of DC I would probably be Flash
The Fool: Fair call, I mean I would pick Batman always, but that is just me… Lastly a Miss Ivy Jean asks; What is the best flavour of M&M?
Dewtastic: M&Ms have flavours? I thought they were just the same chocolate flavour with a different colour coating?
The Fool: Touche young Dewtastic… you passed that test….Anyway thats all we have time for, so thank you Dewtastic for setting aside the time to answer these questions, it has been a pleasure to sit down with you and congratulations on winning the league this year!
Dewtastic: No problems, it has been a blast being here in the studio, and the season was awesome and I look forward to next year, as well as the Euro Cup!
The Fool:Yes, I hope everyone remembers to join up to the NineSixFourTwo Euro 16 Cup over on the Dreamteam picks website.
That’s all from me in the studio, I hope you enjoyed the interview with Dewtastic, I hope to bring you more from the other top 4 teams, Edster’s Dreamteam, El Baconi’s Diablos and Old Warsonians.
Until next time, this is The Fool over and out!
