Fantasy Draft Game Week 7 Review

We have had another round of our fantasy draft league, and although we have a week off for the international break, I thought it was still useful to review the past weeks games. The table has been updated with the results, with my Chelsea Fools still in first, followed by Mr Average, and big movers Twxt in 3rd and Guns N’Moses in 4th (up from 5th and 6th respecifully). At the bottom of the table, both Xenon and I Don’t Like Football stay glued to the bottom, with Massey Marauders dropping 1 place to 10th. However, the table is close with only 4 points covering 3rd to 9th.

The first game of the round was 4th placed Toe_Hack United hosting 1st placed Teh Chelski Fools, which pitted the two best defenses in the league against each other (as much as defense means anything in a fantasy league). This game lived up to that billing, being the second lowest score of a winner in the round, and third lowest overall score. However, in the end my Fools had the goods on Toe_Hack United, even after I left 11 points on the bench with Kevin De Bruyne benched in what I thought would be a Chelsea win.

Next up was Average vs Old Warsonians, where Mr Warson showed us that he is in fact better than the average bear, winning somewhat comfortably, 47-38, helped a lot by his defense, which along with his Goalkeeper scored 35 out of his 47 points . However, this was not good enough to change his relative position in the pack, saying in 8th place, now on 10 points for the season, 2 points behind four teams (Guns N’Moses, Toe_Hack United, Bluetastic & Dewtastic).

The third game was 7th placed Bluetastic hosting bottom of the table Xenon. I predicted an easy win for Bluetastic, and whilst he did score a victory it wasn’t as emphatic as he might have wanted, managing to get the lowest winning score of the round. His team is struggling to score the points he really needs, even though he has been very active on the transfer market with 15 transfer requests (13 being successful), including 5 requests (4 successful) for this game week. If he keep Agüero on the books he will be hoping for a speedy recovery.

Next up was Dewtastic vs [Team Name for Sale], which went as I predicted, with an upset win to [Team Name for Sale]. The spurs players in [Team Name for Sale] really came through, scoring 42 of the 69 points. [Team Name for Sale]’s 69 (Dude!) points are also now the highest individual score in the competition so far, and will probably take a bit of beating. The funny things was that [Team Name for Sale] had left 7 points on the bench by picking Fabianski in goal over Schmeichel. This result also has caused Dewtastic to drop 4 spots to 7th, meanwhile [Team Name for Sale] moved up just the 1 spot, jumping ahead of Number Nine to take 9th place, 1 point behind Old Warsonians, and only 4 points behind 3rd placed Twxt.

The second to last game was a derby between the Massey Marauders and twxt. Once again my prediction came true, with twxt’s arsenal players helping him to the win, with 27 of his points coming from Arsenal players (15 from Monreal on his own). This game is sure to be a sore spot for Number Nine, not only did he lose to twxt but he gave up 9th position on the table, slipping to 10th and also now starting to look like he might be losing touch with the rest of the field. Meanwhile twxt will be extremely happy, showing his superior knowledge of the English Premier League over Number Nine, and also moving up to third, 2 points behind 2nd placed Mr Average (albeit 5 points behind my Fools at the head of the pack)

The last game of the week was between I Don’t Like Football and Guns N’Moses, who easily accounted for their inactive opposition.  The win did push Guns N’Moses up to 4th spot, ahead on goal difference of Toe-Hack United, Bluetastic and his own brother Dewtastic (surely a talking point over dinner).
